Our History
From our early days in 1993, when microbrews were a budding trend and draft beers a novelty, Uptown Pubhouse has grown alongside the vibrant craft beer movement. Our initial lineup boasted pioneering labels like Anchor Steam and Sierra Nevada, and even as selections expanded, we've maintained an impressive roster of drafts, now featuring 34 taps that include everything from standout Arizona microbrews to classic German imports.
But it’s not just about beer. Our whiskey selection is unmatched, featuring over sixty single malt Scotches, numerous Irish whiskeys, and a wide array of American bourbons and whiskeys, curated to include both widely acclaimed brands and rare finds. Our commitment to quality spirits extends across a broad spectrum, offering everything from world class gins to exotic herbal liqueurs.
Uptown Pubhouse is more than a bar; it's a vibrant cultural hub. We've hosted an array of events that foster community engagement—from poetry readings and book clubs to our infamous celebrations of literary giants like Hunter S. Thompson, Jack Kerouac, and F. James & Aly Jay
In July 2004, James and Alyson Jay, deeply embedded in the fabric of Uptown’s story, took the helm. Their diverse backgrounds—from firefighting and teaching to music and literature—have infused Uptown with a unique spirit that continues to attract a loyal following. Whether it's through the annual St. Patrick’s Day revelries, our engaging literary events, or simply a quiet night of fine whiskey, Uptown Pubhouse remains a beacon for those seeking authenticity and connection.
